If you ever had the chance to meet someone like Akira Ikemi, you'd probably be smiling as widely as I was after his workshop on Focusing East and West – A Deeper Understanding of Gendlin’s Focusing and Asian Focusing Methods, an encounter I later captured in an article.
Akira Ikemi is a renowned Focusing practitioner and psychologist, with deep expertise in both Focusing and Japanese psychology. He studied under Eugene Gendlin and has spent decades practicing and teaching Focusing. A professor at Kansai University, he developed the Experiencing Model to explain human experience and founded the Japan Focusing Association to further explore the mind-body connection through Focusing.
If you’ve ever been curious about how Eastern and Western Focusing differ, how Gene Gendlin liked his tea, or the power of words in Focusing, I warmly recommend this article. 🙌 (The Hungarian translation is also available on the website.)
I’m really looking forward to hearing your thoughts! 🤗
